Extra Competition Plans
Quadrant G. Harry Stine created this model rocket for the old Quadrathon event. Quadrathon was the "Iron Man" model rocket competition event that was flown back in the 1970's. The same model was expected to fly in B Payload, A Streamer Duration, A Parachute Duration, and finally, Streamer Spot Landing and survive. You had to do well in all four events to win. This particular rocket would have to be modified with a lengthened payload compartment to fly with today's NAR Standard Payload.
Excalibur BC This is a model rocket suitable for either the B or C superroc duration event. For "C SRD," the Excalibur BC is a "minimum length" model. Though certainly not an ultra-competitive design, it does have the advantage of simplicity and durability. The original model has flown many times, mostly for sport, and has placed at NAR meets.
Moon Satellite Better seen to be believed, this clever design actually works! Wisconsin's Chedar-1 team has often flown this for a place in Open Spot Landing. Build this "bunker buster" for your next try at the Open Spot Landing event.
