Saguaro National Park —The Saguaro is not only symbolic of the American west but is found NOWHERE else on earth but the Sonoran desert. Saguaro’s are extremely slow growing and almost any plant with one or more arms is 60-70 years old! They are an endangered and protected plant.
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a unique blend of arboretum and western wildlife zoo. It features walking paths that pass outdoor displays of all manner of desert animals. There is a building housing excellent indoor displays of desert reptiles and insects. Unique to their facility is the walk-in hummingbird aviary and a live, outdoor raptor show featuring the only pack-hunting hawk in the world- the Harris’s hawk.
Old Tucson is southern Arizona’s one-of-a-kind Wild West attraction, featuring live action stunt shows, musicals and comedy entertainment, as well as vintage rides for the kids and special events throughout the season. Built in 1939 for the movie, Arizona, Old Tucson is home to more than 400 film, television and commercial productions, and remains the region’s premier film location.
The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures’ collection of fine-scale artifacts includes over 500 antique and contemporary dollhouses and roomboxes, while special exhibitions highlight the breadth and diversity of the art of miniatures.
