Greetings Rocket Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the NAR’s annual and all virtual technical conference- vNARCON!
vNARCON is where rocket enthusiasts share technical hobby rocketry information over a broad range of subjects. And professionals present insights into commercial, university, and public aerospace programs and facilities. Ed LaCroix and Todd Schweim are vNARCON’s co-Event Directors.
At no time in the NAR’s history, have NAR member’s, educators, and the public had as reasonably priced an opportunity to access the Association’s annual technical convention. After a stellar turnout of 557 attendees in 2021, vNARCON returns on January 28-30, 2022, again using the browser-based conference platform- Accelevents. Anyone can register and watch/participate in vNARCON. So, help us hit 1,000 attendees. So, help us hit 1,000 attendees by registering early and telling your friends, teachers, and fellow rocket enthusiasts.
We are excited to have a Friday evening Keynote by Jenna Foertsch and Andrew Adams of the Hot Nozzle Society. In April of 2021, a single tweet gave rise to a “digital supernova” which in turn gave rise to the HNS’s first ever HPR event known as the “Hot Nozzle Summer.” Attend vNARCON and you will have a chance to hear Jenna and Andrew tell us how social media and enthusiastic rocketeers have created a new movement in sport rocketry.
Later Friday evening, manufacturers from across the hobby rocketry spectrum will again join in a ManuFacts roundtable led by Bob Sanford where news of the latest and greatest rocket products and services will be presented.
On Saturday the 30th, NARCON will offer 18 breakout sessions from a varied list of speakers. You will hear from the likes of Joe Barnard, Jim Barrowman, Bernard Cawley, Matt Steele, Chris Flanigan, and many others.
To whet your appetite, breakout session topics will explore: Altimeters, ARLISS, prepping and painting for a great finish, exclusive L1 kit build, and flight control systems. And because the World Spacemodeling Championship is coming to Austin, TX in July, 2023, interested members will have access to an exclusive and uncontested ‘linear track’ of three presentations covering the Spacemodeling disciplines of parachute and streamer, rocket-glider, and helicopter model construction!
The Saturday night keynote will be one not to miss! We are privileged that Tom Markusic, CEO of Firefly Aerospace will present LIVE from Vandenberg AFB, California, on the rise of “New Space” and Firefly’s position in the emerging market of commercial launch vehicles.
And finally, there will be TOURS! Yes, even though you are cozied up in your home, NARCON will be bringing you a look inside Apogee Components; a docent-led look at X-Planes displayed at the Wright-Patt Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. And we will close with a tour of space artifacts at the Museum of Flight.
Too much good stuff? We don’t think so.
Buckle up buttercup, you’re in for a fun ride. Registration is now open!
