Six 48 Page Issues a year with NAR Membership!
The inclusion of 20NS “D” Eggloft altitude , would be a natural growth in the NRC event listings. Suggest that this would the the maximum total impulse limit, as it continues to support small, park flying activity for larger municipalities, where larger field are at a premium.
I respectfully disagree with Dan’s premise, “it is clear more variety is needed.” The evidence supporting his claim is…?
The NRC and events that constitute it are intended to allow younger members, particularly those from 7 -15, an access to competition based on low-cost motors and simple airframes, all of which fly well on small fields. AND, to incentivize their involvement through the immediate feedback provided by the Scoreboard.
IMO, the need for more variety is being expressed by the existing C and T members all of whom are not the target market of the NRC. If competitors want to fly events outside the current NRC list, there is nothing to stop them. But what is being sought here is the convenience of flying events that are more stimulating to the adult competitors AND getting NRC credit for it. I will not support this RCP.Â
Let’s add C & D Dual Eggloft duration first and see how that plays with the younger generation that we are trying to attract. After seeing how it works with NRC will tell us if we should add complexity of an altimeter. The adults don’t need experience, and clubs can add to any competitions for fun.
Some of the new competition fliers have issues with just straight altimeters. Let’s give them a chance.

I agree with Jennifer’s logic and suggestion to try Dual first. The extra egg adds a big challenge and makes it much friendlier on those smaller fields.
D Eggloft can reach almost half a mile in altitude. Â Perhaps a bit much for the smaller fields NRC is meant to accomodate.
It’s going to be awfully hard to keep D Egglofters on our standard model rocket field (approximately 40 acres). I am not sure this is a good idea for NRC.
I agree with adding more events options to the NRC. NRC is not only for kids and to say that only a couple events is enough to keep even kids interested is short sided. More options for events and to learn and enjoy should be a no brainer.
