High Power Rocketry Services Committee

The High Power Rocketry Services Committee shall have as its duties the administration and promotion of high power rocketry launches, activities, and services and the training and certification of members as competent users of high power rocketry products.

Current Committee Purpose: To develop and operate the NAR’s programs for conducting high-power rocketry under the provisions of NFPA 1127, specifically including user certifications for NAR members.

NAR By-Laws Language: Article 11, Section 17: The High Power Rocketry Services Committee shall have as its duties the administration and promotion of high power rocketry launches, activities, and services and the training and certification of members as competent users of high power rocketry products.

Specific Expectations:

1. I will develop and propose to the NAR Board of Trustees for approval the procedures for NAR members to earn high-power rocketry user certifications and formal training and/or certification for high-power launch officials at each level that has been established by the Board.

2. I will operate or supervise the operation of the NAR’s process for earning the user certifications established by NFPA Code 1127. Specifically, I will establish and maintain the pool of questions for the written certification exam and the forms for user certification, and will develop procedures for administering and grading these exams and for awarding overall certifications and documenting these in NAR records.

3. I will operate or supervise the operation of the NAR’s process for formally training and/or certifying launch officials and will develop and maintain the training materials used in this process.

4. I will ensure that the administrative processes of the NAR for awarding and documenting certifications minimize the paperwork effort required by the individual seeking certification, and lead to the user’s certification being documented at NAR headquarters and on the user’s NAR license within 30 days of submission of the completed certification forms.
