Activities
To serve communities within and near the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Reservation in safely building and launching model rockets through National Association of Rocketry membership Section affiliation. The Section will promote interscholastic and intertribal rocketry events within the region.Launches
The Section manages, operates and maintains an 18,000 ft FAA clearance launch range near White Swan, WA, which is specially permitted by the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. It meets NAR Safety Code requirements, is insured through NAR, and operates under all NAR launch guidelines. The launch site is located in a gravel pit, south of Pom Pom Rd in White Swan, and is within the boundaries of the Closed Area of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation at Latitude 46° 19' 26.4" N / Longitude 120° 42' 09.8" W.HPR
L-1 and L-2 Class 2 Rockets. The Section does not currently have an L-3 NAR member.Meetings
The MARS Community Club manages this NAR Section and associated school clubs. MARS CC section membership is open to all adults, middle through high school students who do not have a school club, and to interested affiliated organizations. School clubs may join the section, whether they be middle school, high school, or college. School clubs may be organized through their local school or college and may have separate budgets, supplies and local club officers. The Section will meet at least once monthly, and location may vary. The next month's meeting(s) will be posted on the Section social media page...not yet set up.
