Northeast Michigan Rocket Association (NMRA) #889
Activities
Get launch site permission and insurance certificates, have contest for logo design and t-shirt design, set up website, recruit interested high school and middle school science geeks. Perform Launches of low power rockets, work with Oscoda schools kids initially to build and launch low power rockets. After basic skills and love of activity are developed, form a TARC team. Make club known and begin to recruit other schools regionally and nonschool enthusiasts that have not had a place to gather. Get the club started on low power and see if we can attract high power certified members to the launch site. Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport is a Spaceport candidate for horizontal launches, we begin to inspire youth and create a hub for rocket expertise.Launches
First Launches are planned for May, Coronavirus restrictions permitting. Schedule is TBD, but at least once per month on a Saturday with a wind/rain alternate of Sunday.HPR
We are just forming and the organizers do not have High Power certifications at this time. If you have High Power certification and want to launch in NE Michigan, and are willing to help us develop a high power section, please contact Rick Ruth at 313-910-5809 or rick@ruthconsulting.com.Meetings
Regular meetings will be established once we have the Oscoda Area Schools authorization to launch on the soccer field and meet on school property. If the school does not work out we will meet at Wiltse's Restaurant on F-41 across from the airbase.
