Accommodations
Hotel Options
The Alamosa area has a number of hotels ranging from national flags to locally owned properties. Holiday, Hilton, Choice, and others are all represented. Our region gets lots pressure from tourists during Memorial Day Weekend. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you book early. Lodging prices increase as Memorial Day Weekend approaches. There are a number of Air BnBs in town. There are also hotels in the neighboring town of Monte Vista. The drive time to the launch site from Monte Vista is about the same as it is from Alamosa.

Camping & Survival
BRING LOTS OF SUNBLOCK. BRING LOTS OF WATER. EXPECT VERY THIN AIR. DRESS IN LAYERS. WEAR A HAT. At 7600’, your skin burns faster than you can imagine, oxygen is in short supply, and dehydration comes upon you quickly. If you get short of water, vendors will have some on site for purchase. Stake EVERYTHING down. If you feel dizzy or winded, feel free to stop by registration and/or hospitality for some water and to catch your breath.
Sturdy, high-top shoes or boots are your best bet. Sandals are a terrible idea.
Camping is $30.00 for any number of nights, any type.
When registering, please add the camping option so we know how many people will be camping on site. Please set up camp in designated areas. Please display your Happy Camper permit on your vehicle.
Stake EVERYTHING down.
