Content

We prefer articles that have at least one photo or diagram for every 750 words of text. Any type of rocketry related submission will be considered, including: articles, plans, photos, launch reports, product reviews, tips, techniques, historical, and club activities. Both model rocket and high-power rocket articles are accepted.

Articles may be submitted by email, on CD or DVD disc, or as hardcopy (even handwritten). Be aware that publication of hardcopy submissions may be delayed until it can be keyed in. If you send a disc, please enclose a hardcopy printout as well. You may save your article text as a word processor file to preserve formatting, but it’s a good idea to also send a plain ASCII text-only file in case there are difficulties opening your document.

Digital Images and Photographs

Digital images should be sent as separate files (not embedded in your article document). Digital images require at least 150 ppi at the final size and cropping used in the magazine. Higher resolutions are preferred. Minimal image compression is preferred. If emailing images, be sure the email size does not exceed 10MB. You can also put the images somewhere online (such as DropBox) and send access information.

If submitting photographic prints, they should be glossy, color or black & white, no larger than 8×10 and no smaller than 3×5. Always affix your name and a caption to the back of the photo. Do not write directly onto photos; use tape or post-notes. Ship photos with the faces protected.

Graphics and Drawings

Graphics may be submitted in computer form electronically, on disc, or as camera-ready hardcopy (as above with digital images). Hand drawn sketches are accepted. Be aware that publication may be delayed if we must prepare publication quality drawings from hardcopy. Computer generated graphics are preferred in vector formats, such as EPS (encapsulated Postscript), rather than bitmapped formats (but bitmapped formats may be acceptable if they have sufficiently high resolution). Contact the editor about file formats to use.
